Q. WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED FOR THE SQUARESPACE 7.0 TRAINING - GETTING STARTED SESSION

Well for starters you do not need to be a web developer or graphic designer, that is the beauty of Squarespace, it can be used by anyone that knows their way around a computer and internet.

  • First and foremost, you need to be comfortable using an internet browser.  Aside from some preparation work, most of what is done with Squarespace is accomplished via a browser, this is one of the strong points of Squarespace.  The browsers we use during the training are Google Chrome and Firefox.  These two browsers are also supported on Mac and Linux systems.
  • You do need to know your way around a Windows computer.  Although the session is carried out on a Windows computer, the instructions can be replicated on Mac and Linux systems, since most of the actual work is performed on the browser.
  • You do need to have a general understanding of the internet, websites, and email so that you don't get lost in some of the discussions.
  • We do touch on manipulating PNG and JPG images/photos using standard image programs.  So general knowledge of a standard photo manipulation software or graphic design software is helpful, but not required.
  • We do illustrate the use of HTML code in Squarespace for the purposes of showcasing Squarespace's powerful customization capability, but attendees are not expected to learn HTML, this is purely for illustration purposes.

DISCLAIMER: Out of consideration for our attendees, we cannot use valuable and limited training time to instruct any attendee on how to use Windows, Browsers, Internet, Email, or any Graphic Design software.  Our training is solely focused on the specifics on how to work with Squarespace 7.0.  As IT Professionals we would be happy to provide one on one instruction, consulting, and/or support, at our standard rates, at a time after the session.

Q. ARE YOUR SESSIONS TRAINING, WORKSHOPS OR SEMINARS?

Our sessions typically have all three elements to them, but it all depends on your definition of each term.  Accordingly our sessions will be labeled to reflect the predominant format and expected outcome  Here is our general interpretation of each:

Workshop

Workshop usually means a session that is interactive where the attendees get to do something with reference to the material being presented.  In that sense there is a workshop element to our online instructor led training, such as our SQUARESPACE 7.0 TRAINING - GETTING STARTED  session.  By design these sessions are Online which means you participate via your computer and hence you have the means to try what is being taught, provided the the attendee is computer savvy and ideally has two monitors so as not to fall behind or lose their place in the presentation.  Our training is usually divided into parts or sections, at the end of which there is Q&A time, which provides an ideal opportunity to try applying what you learned without missing instructed material.

Seminar

Seminar usually means attending a session, typically at a physical location, where a presenter goes over PowerPoint and provides general guidance and tips to understand concepts, but not necessarily step by step instruction on how to do something. In that sense our training does have a Seminar aspect to it, albeit online,  in that we present, via PowerPoint, guidance and tips to help the attendee understand important concepts.

Training

Training usually means delivering step by step instruction on how to do something.  In that sense, most of our sessions are titled training and do indeed provide step by step instructions that can be replicated by the attendees to achieve and end result. In our SQUARESPACE 7.0 TRAINING - GETTING STARTED session, this is definitely the case.

Q. WHAT DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN ONLINE TRAINING

Our live online training is conducted using the popular GoToMeeting online conferencing service.  In turn, in order to participate, you will need:

COMPUTER / LAPTOP

As an online session you can join from the comfort of your own home or office via your own computer or laptop.  Although technically GoToMeeting can be accessed via mobile devices we recommend you stick to a computer or laptop so that all meeting features are available to you.

We also recommend a high resolution monitor so that you can clearly see the content being presented.  The presentation will typically be 1024x768

HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION

The audio and video resulting from the online session is high quality and does require "high speed" Internet for best results.  So you will want to have cable or DSL connection.

PHONE

You have the option of calling into the meeting for the Audio portion, or you can also use your computers speakers and microphone for the meeting Audio.  The presenter will send you the access phone number prior to the training session.

GOTOMEETING

The presenter will email you and link to the GoToMeeting session.  The link will in turn download the GoToMeeting software to your computer, which you will want to answer the various prompts to install the software.
